Bike Ride

A few weeks ago...geez, maybe over a month ago now, we took a bike ride to the Capitol. We have been trying to do some cruisin' around the city on the weekends to get some exercise and enjoy the city. John snapped a few cool photos using an iPhone photo app we downloaded called Hipstamatic.

An Early Birthday Present

Yes, Lisa asked me to write a blog entry a few weeks back. And yes, I started this blog entry on April 11. I fall on the sword for its delinquency, but because it is important to her, because it is her birthday tomorrow, and because I love her, I polished it up this afternoon. Happy Birthday honey!!!!

Though I am a rather active participant in those things that make up our blog, I’m a rather passive participant when it comes to the creation of it. Lisaandjohnlivinglife could also be called writtenbylisa. A spell-check here, an upload there – that has been the extent of my involvement. But now, as I fly across the Atlantic on a Sunday, power point presentations for the upcoming week prepared and a poor list of movies to choose from, I find myself with extra time, nowhere to go, and an urge to write. So for my first entry I won’t be writing about a vacation, a fiery cab, or a fun weekend on the town – I’ll be writing about the opportunity to write.

I think our blog, for most people, serves as a way to stay in touch with us and keep a pulse on the life we share together. Lisa writes about all of the amazing things we do, all of the amazing time we spend together, and posts all of her amazing pictures. It is a conduit through which we not only share these things with you but you share them with us. For me though it serves as a reminder of the love I share with Lisa. When I read the entry about our vacation to Costa Rica, I do not think about the amazing sunsets, the delicious food, and the ridiculously large iguana in the tree next to our bungalow - I think about how perfect and relaxing the trip was because we spent it together, alone, with no agenda other than each other. When I read the entry about the cab that blew up in front of our building, I do not think about how crazy it was to see a fire ball in the middle of a major artery in Washington, DC – I think about how excited I was to show Lisa the pictures I took of it. And when I read the entry about the snowy weekend we spent at Granville Moore’s and H St. Country Club, I do not think about how cold it was and how ill equipped this city is for winter weather – I think about the smile on Lisa’s face after I jumped in the snow bank to make a snow angel.

Amazing experiences become extraordinary when you share them with a person you love. And without each other, this blog would not exist. When we are together, I feel home, no matter where we are. And when we are apart, like now, in my heart, I’m always headed right back home . . . . . .

Girls Weekend (Boys Allowed)

The high school girls try to get together at least twice a year, and for the most part we have been pretty successful. This weekend was great because Denise and Michael were over from Ireland, and the majority of the husbands (we were missing Dan) were able to make it as well. As usual, we had a blast! Friday night those of us that were in town headed to see a Nats game in DC. Lots of delicious food, beer, and well - I guess some people were interested in the actual game.
And the next night was what a typical gathering is like for us. After the Jack & Jill shower we all headed back to Kristen's to get the night started! Karen and Erin design a Signature Drink for each of our weekends together. This year there was a little hiccup and a last minute choice of the raspberry mojito wasn't quite a hit, but we still slurped them down.
Before things got completely out of hand we managed to snap some entertaining group photos.
And then the dance party began!
You know its a crazy night when the pregnant one keeps dropping her O'Doul's.
